About Us

Terrigal Trotters was formed in 1983 when a group of friends decided to formalise their Saturday runs.

From those early days the club has now expanded to have a membership of over 1000 of both runners and walkers and something in-between.

Terrigal trotters meet between the car park and the Surf Club on Terrigal Esplanade every Saturday morning come rain, hail or shine. You don't need to be fit to come along, you just need to be enthusiastic. We are all of different abilities, come along and get fitter with us and not before you meet us.

Turn up before 5.55 on a Saturday morning, pay your $2 weekly run fee and get your name recorded. After 10 runs or walks you are officially a club member, you will be awarded your joining certificate on the last Saturday of the month when milestones are presented after the run at 7.30am.

The $2 you pay goes towards the drinks at the end, the cakes after the time trials, subsidized buses to running events usually in Greater Sydney, insurance, storage, the Christmas party, ad hoc barbecues, trails runs etc.

There is an official run each Saturday which is shown on the website, all the runs are between 10 and 18km long though there are opportunities to take alternative routes for those who want to do a shorter distance. On the last Saturday of each month there is a time trial over one of 2 accurately measured courses of 10km or 5km long so if you like you can track your progress on getting fitter and faster.

With an average of over 150 runners and walkers each Saturday there is sure to be someone who is the same ability as yourself.

Terrigal Trotters have a Committee made up of volunteers who meet the last Saturday of the month, if you have any queries or concerns please either raise them with a committee member or come along to the meeting.

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) is held at the end of August or beginning of September each year. Immediately prior to this, an electronic election is held at which all eligible members can vote for the new Committee. The results are announced at the AGM.

Trotters has an active Facebook page where members can communicate with each other on running matters.

The club has many awards that are presented each year. Club person, male athlete , female athlete and Trotter of the year are voted for by the members. Junior athlete is decided by the committee. Super 7 Series, Time Trial Aggregate, Ultra Championship, debut marathon, debut half marathon and Mick Miles Award are calculated by results.
The club raises money for charity from many avenues during the year.

  • The Bay to Bay Running Festival is a charity event where a portion of proceeds are distributed to local community groups and charities.
  • The club has taken part in the Mingara Relay for Life since this event's inception. We are regularly the largest team and have raised many thousands for the Cancer Council.
  • The club has recently included a Pink Run on Mothers' Day weekend with all donated proceeds going to the McGrath Foundation.
