Introduction

Welcome to The Great North Walk 100s (GNW100s).  This document provides 2017 GNW100s Runners and their Support Crews with the information they need to prepare for, and participate in, the GNW100s.  Although this is the thirteenth year of the GNW100s, we are sure there will be things that could be done better.  We welcome your feedback on the GNW100s so that we can improve the Event in future years.

Terrigal Trotters

Terrigal Trotters (click here) formed in 1983 and has been very active in promoting running and walking for recreation and competition on the NSW Central Coast.  The Club runs from Terrigal Beach Car Park at 6:00am every Saturday morning when more than 100 runners of all ages and abilities gather to run/walk 10 to 18 kilometres, followed by tea/coffee, juice and socialising.  The Club also organises the annual Bay to Bay Running Festival (click here) each June which attracts more than 2,000 competitors and raises significant sums for local charities.

Public Authorities

The conduct of the GNW100s is dependent on the cooperation of a number of public authorities including the NSW Crown Lands Division , NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service, Forestry Corporation of NSW , Roads and Maritime Services NSW , NSW Police Force, NSW Rural Fire Service, Central Coast Council, Lake Macquarie City Council and Cessnock City Council.  Terrigal Trotters Inc. is grateful to these organizations for their cooperation.  In order to gain their approval, a number of their requirements have been incorporated in the Rules for the GNW100s.  So that the GNW100s can continue in future years, all Runners and their Support Crews are requested to abide by the Rules of the GNW100s as specified in this document and to obey any lawful directions given by authorised members of the above organizations.

Race Organization

Subject to the superior powers of the above-mentioned Public Authorities, the Race Director has authority on all matters related to the GNW100s during the course of the Event.  He, or his designee, can be contacted at any time during the GNW100s on 0408 430694.

Volunteers

The success of the GNW100s is dependent on the help of many Volunteers for which the Organisers are very grateful.  Please treat them with respect and thank them when you have the opportunity.

Radio Communications

Terrigal Trotters is very grateful for the support of the volunteers from Hunter WICEN (Wireless Institute Civil Emergency Network) who provide the radio communications essential to the successful operation of the GNW100s.
